My Day on a Plate: Jacqueline Wilson

7.30am Curl up on the sofa with my cat and write for an hour in my notebook.

8.30am Toast and a black coffee. Catch up with an enormous amount of emails and fill in questionnaires sent by children.

1pm Simple, healthy lunch: an egg and tomato sandwich, a nectarine and some grapefruit juice.

4pm Do a reading at a book shop, part of my tour, then a long signing session afterwards. Authors have modest request lists ? mine's a vegetarian sandwich, some fruit and a coffee.

6pm Grapes to stop me flagging. I can't eat anything that sticks in my teeth when I'm speaking in front of a room full of children, and crisps make the books greasy! The children sometimes bring me ice cream, cakes or packets of half-eaten sweets.
